CARTOON of the DAY: Groundhog Daze!

The Press & Guide - January 30
I'd hate to be the Groundhog in SE Michigan in the 2013 run-up to Groundhog Day on Saturday. Single-digit windchills early in the week, nearly 60 degrees on Wednesday, and who knows what by the weekend? Six more weeks of winter? An early spring? Who even knows what season it is now?!
That's the Point!

CARTOON of the DAY: Happy New (Legislative) Year, Michigan!

Crain's Detroit Business - January 14
Well, if the Michigan House of Representatives can't compromise and be effective in the coming session, maybe at least they'll be entertaining. Who knows? Maybe pay-per-view rights could be a viable source of revenue for Michigan as well.
That's the Point!

Off the Drawing Board: I considered a couple of takes on the end of the NHL lockout, and the return of hockey to Hockeytown for this week's CDB. Here are the concept drawings of those ideas. Go Wings!

CARTOON of the DAY: Thin (or NO) Ice!

The News-Herald - January 13
With the balmy weather this past weekend, what little ice we had has mostly disappeared, but my editors at The News-Herald and I thought it would still be a good idea to remind our readers of the dangers of thin ice throughout the rest of the winter. I added the political/economic twist to the gag on my own!
