The News-Herald - May 29
The Press & Guide - May 25
This Memorial Day weekend, while you're working in the yard or enjoying the first long weekend vacation of the summer, remember exactly for what the last Monday of May - Memorial Day - is dedicated ... to keep alive the memory of all those who, as President Abraham Lincoln said at the dedication of the National Cemetery at Gettysburg, "... gave their last full measure of devotion" in defense of our Nation. To all of them, who fought and died in every war and conflict in which this Nation engaged, we owe a debt of thanks for security that allows us to live free.

CARTOONS of the DAY: Budget Crunch(es)
The Press & Guide - May 18
Dearborn Public Schools budget cuts have put the crunch on students annually, now community programs outside the schools are feeling the crunch as well. Enrichment and fitness programs like those found in the libraries and the public pools are now threatened by a shortage of funds. How do we raise a generation smart and fit enough to solve these problems if we can't afford to give them the start - and the support - they need?!
The News-Herald - May 18
Downriver, just like everywhere else in the state of Michigan, school systems have been forced to focus on (budget) subtraction at a time when the students most desperately need a focus on addition and multiplication. Time for a new (budgetary) lesson plan!
